Enterprise server room design and build

Server room design, build and upgrade in Nigeria

A server room designed for the load you actually run.

For organisations building a new equipment room or upgrading one that has grown without a plan. We start by checking whether a room is the right answer at all.

What we usually find

The problem in the room

  • Equipment has outgrown a cupboard or office corner, with no clear power, cooling or cabling plan.
  • A relocation or new building needs a room specified before the fit out contractor proceeds.
  • Nobody can say how much capacity is left, or what a failure would take down.
  • Leadership wants to know whether to keep systems on premise, colocate or move workloads to cloud.
01

Start with the load, not the floor plan

A room is sized from what it must carry. That means measured IT load today, the growth you can justify, the availability your operations need and the constraints of the building. We record those first, then test whether a dedicated room, colocation, cloud or a mix is the sensible answer.

02

One coordinated design across disciplines

Layout, power path, cooling, racks, cabling, fire detection and suppression interfaces, access control and monitoring are designed together so no package undermines another. Each discipline is signed off by an engineer competent for it and named in the quotation.

03

Upgrades in occupied buildings

Where the work is an upgrade of a live room in Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt, works are phased around changeover windows agreed with your ICT and facilities teams, with a rollback step written down before anything is switched.

Scope

Deliverables, responsibilities and evidence

Scoped deliverables

  • Infrastructure Readiness Assessment of the site and current load
  • Options review covering on premise, colocation, cloud or a mix
  • Room design brief covering layout, power, cooling, racks, cabling, fire and access interfaces
  • Costed design and bill of quantities for the agreed option
  • Coordinated procurement, installation and testing
  • Handover pack with as built drawings, test records, asset list and maintenance schedule

Responsible specialists

  • Electrical, mechanical and fire system design by qualified engineers named for the project
  • Equipment supply and installation through the OEM or approved partners named in the quotation
  • Building works by the site’s contractor, coordinated against the agreed design

Acceptance evidence

  • Design reviewed and signed off by you before procurement
  • Power, cooling and cabling tests run with you present against written criteria
  • As built documentation matching what was installed

Not every organisation needs its own server room. If colocation or cloud serves you better, the assessment will say so.

How it’s delivered

Assessment first. Then design, quotation and tested handover.

The engineers and partners for your project are named in the written quotation. Design and acceptance criteria are agreed with the responsible engineers. See our design references.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you build server rooms outside Lagos?

Yes. AFRICORE operates from Lagos and delivers projects across Nigeria. Work in Abuja, Port Harcourt and other cities is scoped individually, with site access, specialist availability and logistics set out in the written quotation.

Do we actually need a dedicated server room?

Not always. The readiness assessment compares on premise, colocation and cloud options against your load, risk and budget. If a room is not the right answer, we say so.

How much does a server room build cost?

Cost is driven by IT load and rack count, the resilience you need, site and building works, cooling and power equipment, installation, commissioning and logistics. The paid assessment records these for your site. A costed design and bill of quantities follow, and then a written quotation for the work.
