A telecommunications infrastructure standard for data centres covering spaces, cabling, and the supporting electrical, mechanical and architectural considerations. We use it as a structured checklist when defining room layout, cabling topology and redundancy objectives.

Design references
International references. Project-specific criteria.
What you receive
Clear outputs and named accountability.
- 01
Design basis
A short written statement of load, growth, availability objective and the references the design follows.
- 02
Acceptance criteria
Measurable tests for power, cooling, cabling and monitoring, agreed before procurement.
- 03
Responsible sign-off
The qualified engineer accountable for each discipline, named in the quotation.
- 04
Test records
Witnessed results against those criteria, handed over with as-built documents.
References we draw on
Primary sources
Guidance on thermal environments, airflow and cooling for IT equipment. It informs how inlet conditions are measured and how target ranges are discussed. The actual ranges are agreed with the responsible mechanical engineer for your equipment.
Tier classifications describe levels of redundancy and concurrent maintainability. We use the concepts to discuss availability objectives in plain terms. Formal Tier Certification is a separate process carried out only by Uptime Institute.
These references identify the guidance used in a project. Applicable requirements and any certification objective are recorded in the design basis. Certification and membership status must be evidenced separately. Referencing a standard does not confer certification on AFRICORE or on any facility.
