Racks, structured cabling, connectivity and monitoring

Racks, structured cabling, connectivity and monitoring

Racks and cabling you can trace, test and maintain.

For rooms where cabling has grown unplanned, racks are full or unstable, and nobody is alerted when conditions change.

What we usually find

The problem in the room

  • Undocumented patching that makes every change risky.
  • Racks without blanking, cable management or room to grow.
  • Single connectivity paths into the room.
  • No temperature, humidity, power or door alerts.
01

A rack layout that leaves room to grow

Rack positions, weight, power per rack, cable routes and airflow are planned together, so the next expansion does not mean re-cabling the room.

02

Cabling you can trace

Copper and fibre are installed by qualified installers, tested link by link and labelled to a scheme that matches the documentation you receive.

03

Monitoring that alerts the right people

Temperature, humidity, power, leak and door sensors are scoped with defined thresholds and named recipients in your organisation. Alerts are tested at handover. AFRICORE does not operate a 24/7 monitoring centre.

Scope

Deliverables, responsibilities and evidence

Scoped deliverables

  • Rack, cabling and connectivity survey of the agreed space
  • Rack layout, cable routing and labelling scheme
  • Structured cabling and connectivity design with bill of quantities
  • Environmental and power monitoring scope with defined alert recipients
  • Coordinated installation, testing and documentation

Responsible specialists

  • Structured cabling installed and tested by qualified installers named for the project
  • Rack, PDU and monitoring hardware through OEM or approved partners
  • Carrier links coordinated with your chosen connectivity providers

Acceptance evidence

  • Cable test results for installed links
  • Labelled racks and patching matching the documentation
  • Monitoring alerts tested to the agreed recipients

Monitoring alerts go to the people you nominate. AFRICORE does not operate a round the clock monitoring centre.

How it’s delivered

Assessment first. Then design, quotation and tested handover.

The engineers and partners for your project are named in the written quotation. Design and acceptance criteria are agreed with the responsible engineers. See our design references.

    Scoping and paid assessment

A short conversation agrees the environment and access. Coverage, output, fee, responsibilities and timing are agreed in writing before booking

  2. 02

    Costed design and BOQ

Findings, priorities and next steps inform the design and quantities

  4. 04

    Coordinated implementation

Procurement and installation by qualified specialists

  5. 05

    Tests and handover

Run with you present, against agreed criteria

FAQ

Common questions

Can you re-cable a live server room?

Usually, in phases agreed with your ICT team around maintenance windows, with a written migration plan for each change.

Will you monitor our room for us?

No. We scope and install monitoring that alerts people you nominate. We don't run a round the clock operations centre.
