Critical power, UPS and PDU integration

Critical power, UPS and PDU integration in Nigeria

Know what keeps running when the grid drops.

For equipment environments where grid instability, generator changeover and ageing UPS units put operations at risk.

What we usually find

The problem in the room

  • UPS runtime is unknown, or batteries have never been load tested.
  • Generator changeover causes drops or restarts in IT equipment.
  • Single power paths and overloaded strips feed critical racks.
  • No one has mapped which loads are on protected power.
01

Map the protected power path

We trace each critical load from utility and generator through changeover, UPS and distribution to the rack, and record what is protected, what is not and what a single failure would stop.

02

UPS sizing from a real load schedule

UPS capacity, topology, battery runtime and redundancy are selected from a measured load schedule and the changeover behaviour of the site’s generator, not from a quote for the largest unit.

03

Working with critical power vendors in Nigeria

UPS, battery and PDU equipment is supplied and commissioned through OEMs or authorised partners named for the project. AFRICORE coordinates the interfaces and verifies the tests. Licensed electrical engineers design and sign off the work.

04

Battery condition, runtime and planned maintenance

The assessment reviews UPS battery condition, measured runtime against the load and how the site behaves at generator changeover. From that we set out a planned maintenance path. Any testing, battery replacement or equipment maintenance is scoped first and performed by qualified personnel and the responsible OEM or specialist partner named in the quotation.

Scope

Deliverables, responsibilities and evidence

Scoped deliverables

  • Critical load schedule and single line review of the IT power path
  • UPS, battery, changeover and distribution condition assessment
  • Options for UPS, PDU and distribution upgrades sized to load and growth
  • Specification and bill of quantities, designed by qualified electrical engineers
  • Coordinated installation, testing and maintenance schedule

Responsible specialists

  • Electrical design and installation by licensed engineers named for the project
  • UPS and PDU supply and commissioning through OEM or approved partners
  • Generator and utility interfaces coordinated with the site’s facilities team

Acceptance evidence

  • UPS and changeover tests run with you present against written criteria
  • Labelled distribution and an updated load schedule
  • Battery and maintenance records handed over

Electrical work is carried out only by qualified personnel named for the project. We coordinate and verify. We don't bypass specialist sign off.

How it’s delivered

Assessment first. Then design, quotation and tested handover.

The engineers and partners for your project are named in the written quotation. Design and acceptance criteria are agreed with the responsible engineers. See our design references.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you test our existing UPS runtime?

Yes, as part of a scoped assessment. Battery and load tests are planned with qualified personnel and your facilities team, with a written method and rollback step.

Are you a UPS distributor?

No. We are an integrator. Equipment comes from OEMs or authorised partners named in the quotation. We don't claim OEM appointments we haven't verified.

Who does the electrical work?

Only qualified, licensed electrical personnel named for the project. We coordinate and verify. We never bypass specialist sign off.
